Serial numbers in WorkMate help track individual products and ensure accurate inventory management. Merchants can easily create and assign serial numbers through the Serials module or directly within Purchase Orders. This streamlined process enhances product tracking and simplifies inventory management.
1. Add a product
Log in to your Shopify store and go to your Shopify Admin Dashboard.
Navigate to the Products section.
Add a product.
Example: iPhone 16
Scroll down to the Product metafields app block and mark the Uses Serial Numbers metafield as True.
After entering your product details, click Save.
2. Open WorkMate from Shopify Admin
Navigate to Apps in the left sidebar and select WorkMate from the list of installed applications.
3. Access the Serials module
Click on the Serials module from the main dashboard or sidebar menu.
4. Create a Serial
On the Serials page, click the New Serial button.
Select a product and enter your serial number.
Example: iPhone 16 - White, Serial Number: X0Y98JO7HJ
Enter the Location of your item.
Optionally, you can also add Notes for additional detail.
Click Save.
1. Create serials through Purchase Orders
If you'd like to save a new serial as you are receiving a purchase order, you can do so through the Purchase Orders module as well.
Tip: You are able to create a new serial number through a purchase order to ensure that each item received can be inventoried and tracked accurately.
Access the Purchase Orders module from the main dashboard or sidebar menu.
Select the Purchase Order you are receiving.
Example: PO-#28
Select the products in your purchase order that you'd like to serialize.
Example: iPhone 16 Pro Max
After selecting the product, a dialog box will appear where you can enter in your serial number.
Example: Serial Number X0Y9K7V5FI8
Click Save.
After saving the purchase order, you will be able to view the serialized product in the Serials module.
