Importing Serials

If you have many serials you'd like to import into Workmate, you're in luck—Workmate allows you to import serials directly via a CSV file.

1. Access the Serials module

  • Click on the Serials module from the main dashboard or sidebar menu.

2. Click on the Import CSV Button

  • Click on the Import CSV button on the top right corner of the screen.

3. Importing Your File

  • A menu will pop up, allowing you to upload a file to WorkMate.

  • The file must follow the same format as the CSV template. You can download the template to see how to structure your file.

  • Make sure your file includes the required product identifiers to ensure a successful import:

    • Product SKU: You can find your product's SKU in the product details section on Shopify Admin. If your product has variants, the SKU will be listed under each variant's details.

    • Serial Number: This is the serial number you want to assign to the serialized product. It can be any combination of letters and numbers—it doesn’t need to be numeric only.

    • Location ID: To find your Shopify Location ID:

      1. Go to Settings > Locations in your Shopify Admin.

      2. Click on the location you want.

      3. Look at the end of the URL—you’ll see a long string of numbers. That’s your location ID.

        1. The location ID is not the same as the location name.

    • Notes (Optional): You can include any extra information about the serialized product here.

Tip: To avoid issues during import, format long numbers (e.g., SKU, Location ID, etc.) in your CSV as plain text or a number to prevent them from being rounded or shown in scientific notation (e.g., 1.23E+10).

4. View Your Serials

  • Once your serials have been successfully imported, you can view and manage them in the Serials module.
