Adding a Dropdown Menu

Custom fields can be adapted to various formats, including a dropdown menu. First, we'll set up the dropdown menu options, before adding the custom field to our work order.

Setting up the dropdown menu options

  1. Go to WorkMate's Settings > Custom fields

  • Navigate to the 'Settings' module in the left menu under the WorkMate app

  • Select 'Custom fields' in the top menu

  1. Under 'Definitions' select 'Work order'

  1. Select "+ New definition"

  1. Fill in the Custom field details

  • Name: title of your custom field. This is case sensitive and should be entered exactly as you would like it to appear on your work order

  • Data type: select Single line text field

  • Check "Restrict to certain choices"

  • Add your dropdown menu options in the 'Add choice' fields

For example. If I would like to capture information on a customer's size, I could set up my dropdown menu like so.

  1. Save the Custom field definition

Create the custom field in your work order present

  1. Go to the Work Orders module

  2. Create a new work order and add the custom field

  • Ensure that the title of your custom field matches exactly what you titled it in the previous step

  1. The dropdowns should appear for the custom fied
