Product Builder
The Product Builder in WorkMate allows you to create configurable products with complete flexibility and data consistency. This feature enables businesses to sell customized products by starting with a base product in Shopify and adding configurable options and custom fields. You will need to configure your product on Shopify Admin before you work with it on POS.

Many stores need to offer customized products where customers select a base item and then configure specific attributes. For example, a furniture store may offer a base couch where customers choose fabric type, wood color, and leg style. The Product Builder solves this requirement by enabling a flexible configuration workflow within WorkMate.
1. Configure Product Metafields in Shopify
Navigate to your base product in Shopify that will serve as the foundation for customizations. Scroll down to the Product Metafields section where you will see two configuration options: Add-ons and Custom Fields.
2. Adding Product Add-ons
Add-ons allow customers to select from predefined product options when configuring their order.
To configure add-ons:
Click into the Add-ons bar and select New Entry
Enter the name and optional description for the add-on
Configure requirement settings:
Required: Select whether this add-on must be chosen when adding the parent product to a work order
Multiple Selection: Choose whether multiple products can be selected for this add-on category
Add the available product options that customers can choose from
Ensure the new entry is selected and toggled on in the Add-ons bar
3. Adding Custom Fields
Custom fields provide additional data input options that appear in the line item details.
To configure custom fields:
Click into the Custom Fields bar and select Add Item
Enter the custom field name
You can configure the custom field data type in WorkMate's custom field settings
4. Building Products in Work Orders
Once you have configured the product metafields, you can add these products to work orders and begin customization.
To start building:
Go to the Work Order tile and create a work order
Add the configured product to your work order as a line item
Click into the line item to open the product details menu
5. Product Configuration
Configure your customized product using the options you set up in Shopify.
Configuration options:
Product Configuration Section: Select products for each add-on using the Select Product button, following the rules configured in your Shopify product settings
Custom Fields Section: Complete any custom fields with relevant information
